Societal and environmental benefits through Copernicus. Investing in Space: Development, Employment and Innovation

The Research and Innovation Week (25 May – 2 June 2019) is organized annually by the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) within the EU H2020 Research and Innovation programme, to promote interest in research, innovation and science to people of all ages, and to promote research and innovation culture to our society. The program includes a series of interactive events to be held in cooperation with a wide range of institutions, universities and research centers in all the cities of Cyprus. Activities include scientific meetings, movies, theater, sports activities, lectures in schools, educational workshops on research and technology, astronomy, photography contest, etc. Cyprus University of Technology organized 3 events (science cafes), one in Limassol on the 27th of May, one in Paphos on the 29th of May and one in Nicosia on the 31st of May, titled: “Societal and environmental benefits through Copernicus. Investing in Space: Development, Employment and Innovation”.

    A science cafe was organised by the Eratosthenes Research Centre (Cyprus University of Technology) in Nicosia, Cyprus on the 31st of May 2019. CopHub.AC project was presented to 25 guests in a more relaxed environment. The project’s goals and progress were presented to the event attendees along with the Copernicus services, Sentinels satellites as well as the Eratosthenes Research Centre’s activities based on the thematic areas of the Copernicus services using Sentinel satellite data. The event was carried out under the auspices of the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation during the “Week of Research and Innovation”.
