SUMMARY:Hackathon for smart city and tourism applications
DESCRIPTION:The event is a 2\,5 days Hackathon event. It will focus on Copernicus applications that helps developing greener\, smarter and more sustainable cities in the context of climate change. The Hackathon will channelize this topic through the 3 challenges: \n\nGreen & Digital City\nSustainable & Smart Tourism\nBlue & Clean Mediterranean\n\nThe outputs of the Hackathon are envisaged to serve a wide set of users\, both at all levels of public authorities\, for the private sector and citizens. \nThe Hackathon is envisaged to be celebrated from 17th to 19th of April at the Digital Pole Malaga. This date has been selected to allow celebrating the award ceremony and application presentation at the Greencities Forum 2019\, held in Malaga on  21st-22nd of April. It will be accompanied with a series of pre-Hackathon webinars providing an overview of Copernicus data\, data access and the DIAS environment. \n  \n

SUMMARY:XVI national science festival «Erdvėlaivis Žemė» [Spaceship Earth]
DESCRIPTION:XVI national science festival «Erdvėlaivis Žemė» [Spaceship Earth]\nAnnual event\, which started in 2004 and takes place in three biggest cities of Lithuania – Vilnius\, Kaunas\, Klaipeda. It is most important and biggest cluster of popular science events and spread into more than ten cities. During series of diverse hands-on activities (lectures\, demonstrations\, excursions\, exhibitions\, which now annually exceed 300) each September more than 30 000 participants visit all main universities\, laboratories of the biggest technological companies\, such as TEVA/”Sicor Biotech”\, “Thermofisher Scientific Baltics”\, “Ekspla”\, other innovative companies\, museums. Children of all ages\, schoolchildren and families are taking part at the concomitant open air events. \nMarine Research Institute is presenting Copernicus\, EO-based Marine monitoring\, Land monitoring for natural and anthropogenic hazards. Students will be offered a first introduction in the opportunities available by the set of data available from the Copernicus missions\, such as Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2. Following the presentations\, the students will have the opportunity to test the knowledge they acquired through an informative game-based learning platform.
